Who Chooses the Leaders of Jewish Organizations?

The Forward does a nice job of reviewing how leaders are chosen organization by organization. Although the evidence is sketchy it seems clear that wealthy donors select the leaders of Jewish organizations and what other Jews think on the issues doesn't count for much.
